What is GDGU?

Guns Down, Gloves Up is a boxing training and mentoring program for children and teens (ages 10-17) and young adults (18-24 years old).

The program’s content includes strengthening the mind and body, building confidence, and resolving conflict without using guns or weapons. Boxing equipment is provided, and program participants will receive a weekly incentive stipend on a reloadable Visa card..

Who can Participate in GDGU?

Children, teens, and young adults ages 10 through 24 can participate. To participate in the program, you need to register.

When and where does GDGU take place?

GDGU is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Sessions for children and teens take place from 4 pm to 7 pm. Sessions for adults take place from 7 pm to 9 pm.

GDGU takes place at Epiphany Fellowship Church, 1632 W. Diamond Street in North Philadelphia.
During the late spring and summer, children & youth sessions will take place outside (weather permitting) at the 22nd District building at 17th Street & Montgomery Avenue.

How do I sign up for GDGU?

All you have to do to participate in the GDGU program is register.
Participants age 17 and under should be registered by a parent or guardian.
