Pastoral Training Institute of Malawi

The Pastoral Training Institute of Malawi exists to develop church planters who will plant Christ-Centered churches in the rural villages of Malawi. With over 80% of the population living in villages and almost no trained pastors there, the need for PTIM is great. There are millions of people in desperate need of gospel ministry with a population set to triple in the next 40 years.

In the last 15 years, Malawi has seen over a three-fold increase in the number of Muslims in the country. As the population increased from 10 million, in 1998, to over 17 million, in 2014, the percentage of Muslims has increased from 13% to 25% in that time. Especially in southern Malawi, Islam is growing at an alarming rate by meeting needs for food security and education for the young. With almost no trained pastors in villages, Islam is growing, ancestor worship continues, and Jehovah’s witnesses propagate a false gospel with very little resistance.

“God has graciously redeemed us and placed us in this world to be missional people. He has called us to preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations.”

Pastor Robert Manda
